Our Extremus brand microtome blade edges are specially coated with a proprietary blend of coatings for a tough, durable cutting edge that also delivers incredible precision. It is an ideal "all-purpose" blade. The Extremus brand is especially effective on hard tissue, and skin in both cryostats and microtomes.
The Extremus coatings are ceramic and a PTFE poylmer, the cutting edge forms a 35 degree angle, and the blades fit all disposable holders in both microtome and cryostat machines. Extremus's unique blend of fine precision and a hard coating makes it an ideal choice for all general purpose applications.
Low profile blades are 76mm x 8mm x .25mm (this is an industry wide standard dimension.) High profile blades are 76mm x 14mm x .43mm (the 0.43mm is a Heavy-Duty thicknes dimension and it will fit all microtome blade holders.)
